    So apparently the best glue for this job is Loctite Plastic Bonding System which is 2 part (or similar). The best place to get replacement Wicker is to look for a matching second hand item that can be sacrificed for the strands.

    I have bought this Christmas tree but the slim version and unfortunately it looks not as nice as the Christmas tree in the video, the inner part of the tree has bare metal bars ( bottom branches about 20 cm and gradually goin up you get 10-15 cm), and even when you fluff it you can still see it, and these "fluffy" branches looks like typical artificial Christmas tree not exactly like on the video. Although the tips of the tree looks really nice almost like a real one, but it's a shame they are just on the tips of the branches.

  • @tommygunn7745

    I purchased a wicker(synthetic) patio set abt 10 yrs ago from costco. It has begun to crackand fall apart . It has been covered year round except for light occasional use,so Im lucky to have had it last so long. I suspect the sun would have caused it to crack much earlier,as their warranty for them is only a year. The strand of resin type wicker strands is cracking and falling apart. I have been using "shoe glue" just as the hair line cracks begin and it seems to be preventing further cracking at that those spots. If the go beyond the hair crack they just fall out in pieces.For the most part it works,but another crack developes next to the repair or under the weave where I cant reach it. The only way i can imagine to stop them from cracking would be to dip the entire chair into a resin like liquid that will strengthen the entire fabric weave. Spraying on some clear protectant should be easier,cheaper and should work at stabelizing the entire system of aging/cracking resin/wicker strands. ( they are 1/4 inch wide by 1/32 to 1/16 thick) If i could feed a strand out they would break, due to their age alone. Has anyone here already figured this problem out? Or.. any other place that has delt with this particular problem?

      Mine. Have cracked and are falling apart into tiny pieces, I hate to throw the frames away… and am thinking I might re weave using paracord. But that might cost me as much as the whole set costs.

      You can heat up the plastic & stick it dwn but not to much or it will melt otherwise safer option you could use any type of plastic super glue to glue it. The materials I'm considering calling the place of purchase or a rattan furniture place local (im in aus) & seeing if they have repair packs or even possibly eBay may have them as they also sell them. If I find a place I will put links here. Also maybe a DIY craft shop for the materials Might be lucky. Will update tomorrow

    My dogs have chewed a great big section of mine away, so I appreciate the single weave repair, but how do you repair a large section where there is no weave? Its like sewing I can't follow the flow of tuck here wrap there etc.

    • @BlueHaze3
      @BlueHaze3 6 років тому

      TomS1968 I have a similar problem but my theory is same technique follow the pattern and when doing one side that has no weave the next would be opposite or horizontal. Then again the next one so you would start with singular lengths and then cross over them ....maybe? gonna give it a go. Just need material

My German shepherd chewed the legs of my poly ratan chairs so my idea was to smear some e600 on the base, wrap the cord around that and hold the whole thing in place with tape until the glue hardens. I don’t know if this will work but it can’t look worse than it does already 😂
